American Indian Scholars License Plate - February 2009
The American Indian Scholars License Plate is a Colorado State issued plate with a medicine wheel design by Francis Sherwood. Colorado residents may secure one for a $25 donation plus specialty plate and registration fees. To obtain your certificate, please contact the Rocky Mountain Indian Chamber of Commerce at 303-629-0102 or the Denver Indian Center at 303-936-2688.

To date, we are proud to say that sales have reached over 2175 plates, and orders have been placed in over 49 counties! In addition, as of February 9, 2009, 1686 plates have been registered on vehicles in Colorado!

Counties where we only have one plate include:  Conejos, Gunnison, Lincoln, Mineral, Ouray, Rio Blanco, Rio Grande, and Sedgwick. In Baca, Bent, Costillo, Crowley, Kiowa, Kit Carson, Moffat, Phillips, and San Juan, we don't have any AIS plates.  COME ON, FOLKS, encourage others in your county to switch to the American Indian Scholars plate!

Download your form to purchase an American Indian Scholars Certificate or visit our office at 924 W. Colfax, Suite 104F (Bernard Valdez Building), located at the corner of Colfax and Kalamath. Office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Once you have your certificate, take it to your local Motor Vehicle Division office, pay the specialty license plate and registration fees, and you'll receive your American Indian Scholars License Plate.

Proceeds go the American Indian Scholars Scholarship fund. Additional donations are greatly appreciated.

GOV. RITTER NAMES NEW BOARD MEMBERS FOR THREE STATE COLLEGES

(Denver, CO - Nov. 1, 2009)   Gov. Bill Ritter today announced appointments to the governing boards for Mesa State College, the University of Northern Colorado and the Colorado School of Mines. All of the appointments are effective Jan. 1, 2010, through Dec. 31, 2013.

Gov. Ritter appointed Jerome Gonzales of Grand Junction, Cecil M. Hernandez of Aspen and Dan R. Robinson of Grand Junction to the Mesa State College Board of Trustees.

The Governor re-appointed Richard L. Monfort of Greeley and appointed Denise L. St. Cyr of Parker to the UNC Board of Trustees.

Gov. Ritter appointed Stewart A. Bliss of Denver and Mohan S. Misra of Golden to the Board of Trustees of the Colorado School of Mines.

“Colorado’s colleges and universities hold the key to unlocking opportunities and possibilities for students throughout Colorado,” Gov. Ritter said. “The people appointed and re-appointed today share my vision for a higher-education system that prepares students to not just compete -- but to succeed -- in today’s 21st century economy. Students and families will be well-served by each of these board members.”
